Eulogy for Francesco

Frisco has passed away. For those of you that remember him he had been fighting cancer for the last two years. His mom just today logged into his aim account to tell me the news.

For those of you that didn't know him, he was an Italian American living in New York. He was a friend that you couldn't help but respect. He always had something smart to say, which made him just about the only fellow on the GM that could handle Boothead. Frisco never showed those of us here on the gm one ounce of fear. We all knew he was having a hard time, but he never gave up. That was the type of guy frisco was.

Many people here don't know that Frisco was a writer. I wish now i had asked him to let me read some of his work, but I have asked his mom to mail me his short stories. I'll post them as I get them.

I'll update this as soon as i get more information from his mother. Everything i get will be posted here.

It is true. While I would say I usually got the best of Frisco in most bouts, he was the only one who could ever rage me at a satisfactory level. If this is not BS, RIP our Italian churchboy.

Frisco sounds like he was a nice guy. I guess I joined this board too late to really get to know him. I'm sure he will be missed by all his good friends. That was really nice of you Reno and you Boothead to post such kind things about your fellow gamers mafia member.
It sounds to me like he was your good friend.

As i haven't been around for a long time i wasn't even aware that 'ol Frisco was ill. I am very shocked by this news. i just thought he was away enjoying life and popping by the GM now and then.

Used to have some good laughs with this guy. the chats on AOL and all the jokes and windups we all did were superb. I still have some of the classic convo's from AOL saved on the PC.

Was also pleased as punch to see he was still using the sig I made for him. i remember when i replaced the image of Eminem for Vanilla Ice. Man we laughed when he logged on to AOL after seeing it. He thought it was hilarious to. He was a good man and had a great sense of humour.

I can't believe this, I've known Frisco for so long, he and I had some amazing AIM chats, I can still think about them and laugh, he was truly a great guy, one of the better people I've met online and offline.

The rap battles he had against DR. MC and Boothead, The AIM chats we had about ninjas, GM members, rap, stuff in general, the debates we would have about republicans and democrats and did we talk some Zelda OOT, as he would have put it, good times.

I just found out about Frisco passing away, and am deeply saddened by this tragic event. He was a great, no, he IS a great friend to have. I miss him very much. Frisco told me back in August about his cancer, and that he had lost one of his leg in the process. Chemotherapy had made him very ill.
First, he had bone cancer, then leukemia. His battle was for two years. He was a person of faith, and held his lord to the highest regard.
He was an active member my old forum, and a great friend to have. We shared a lot of laughs.
He was very political for his age. I remember when I had to give him the news about Bush Winning in 2004. We were both pissed...
He is missed, and will never be forgotten.

I haven't been here in ages my buddy Xan Carrico (you guys know him as Cyber Knight Xan) told me about frisco's passing so I'm here to pay my respect. Thanks for telling me xan or else I would have never returned. People seem to be done with ol LQ and I honestly thought I would never post here again.. Anyways, frisco an I were friends and he was a good kid. He used to show me his writings. Too bad I never saved any.

I'm Mark Townsend by the way I guess I can reveal my true identity since I probably won't come back. I will miss this place, especially boothead and colonel trying to mock everything I do. That was just brilliant. But on the other hand I'm glad they are gone, we don't need clowns like them running this place. My time is over.. Don't worry I'm not staying. It looks like xan has this place covered. Frisco would be proud.

LQ man I didn't think you would come. You told me you would never return after the way boothead and colonel and the rest of the lynch mob that used to be here treated you. I also thought you told me that only bob could be told your real identity. Oh well too late now, cat's out of the bag so to speak.

Thanks for reconsidering, about posting here. I'm sure the remaining members will be more understanding now. I tried to tell them that you were not me but they didn't believe me.

LQ was one of frisco's his best friends I can attest to that from the conversations LQ and I used to have about this place over the phone. He mentioned this guy named frisco quite often.

This thread is about the passing of frisco and how his friends will miss him. For the short time I knew him, I thought he was a person with integrity. He seemed to always be dedicated to the GM.

RIP Frisco.

By the way that's one classic aim conversation budko. I remember frisco telling me about that.

We used to have conversations like that on aim also. Frisco was one of my best friends. I miss you man.

Okay. I think I'm pretty much done. Unless someone else here kicks the bucket that I knew on the GM I probably won't be back. LQ is dead to everyone here anyway except for boothead who seems to make it his mission in life to mess with LQ. Well to everyone here, since this is my last post on the GM, you heard it from me Xan is NOT LQ. Frisco you hear that buddy? So this is to set the record straight I am the one and only Lord Quandar. I always have been. Xan has always been Cyber Knight for as long as I have known him. Xan is a fairly recent screen name and I guess he just decided to merge xan and cyberknight. Hope that explanation can get everyone off your back. Xan did use my screen name for about a week to get some ftp and sql info and that may be why people are confused. But he really never was LQ. No matter what anyone says frisco was my friend. Even though xan barely knew him.

I'm out for good now. RIP frisco. Keep the place going xan people seem to like what you have done here. And everyone else.. No hard feelings. Seph if ever read this, take care man.

Well. That clears the air.

Haven't heard from LQ for almost 3 or 4 years. Man time flys by.

Frisco is my best friend that I will never forget. No one can take his place.

I actually mention him in one of my online classes at the school.

To explain clearly: It was a writing class to teach people how to write fictional stories and poetry. The theme for this week had to do with a historical backdrop. Obama's victory reminded me of what Frisco wanted in the world: Change.


Here is what I had wrote:

It was election night 2004 and every single person I knew wanted John Kerry to win. I had begun my obsession with politics at that time. Honestly – I did not want to see George Bush to win. The media, worried that they will do a repeat mistake of Florida, never called the State of Ohio that night. The precincts had George Bush ahead with 99% reporting. My friend Frisco, who was just 14 at the time, knew more about the political arena than I did. He was the reason why I became obsessed with the political world. Politics affect every day life. I told him do not worry. I told him to keep the faith. The next day when Ohio called for Bush he was upset. I read in the paper that someone down in Georgia killed himself because of George Bush’s second victory.
As I reflect on this moment in time, I wonder to myself, what would Frisco say now? What would he say about the democrats claiming the white house? On top of it all, someone who is African-American! My friends, I will never be able to find out. On September 14, 2007 he had died of leukemia. That is a piece of history that I would love to have shared with him. It was a moment in time where everyone reflected on the history of the United States, history of man-kind, and what the future is to bring.

Although this is a true story about me, I hope that this will help someone write a fiction about an historic event.
